Is it available yet?

We are preparing the first App Store release. There is no public download link yet.

Do I need an account or subscription?

No. The planned release is a one-time paid download with no app account, subscription, advertising, or in-app purchases.

Does it work offline?

Creating records, comparing tiles, exporting PDFs, and creating backups work on your device. Importing cloud-only photos or backups, emailing support, and sharing through an online service may require internet access.

How do I keep a restorable backup?

In Settings, choose Export studio backup and save the .kilnnotes file outside the app. That file includes records and photos. PDF and CSV exports are reference copies and cannot restore the studio.

What happens when I restore a backup?

Settings > Restore studio backup lets you select a .kilnnotes file. Review the confirmation carefully: restore replaces the current studio, not merges it. A before-restore recovery copy is saved locally first. You can export that copy from Before-restore backups, but it will also be lost if you delete the app.

Why is the backup extension .kilnnotes?

The app began with the working name Kiln Notes. We retained the backup extension and data format when adopting the Sevenstead Pottery name so existing test records and backups stay compatible.

Are original photos preserved?

No. Photos are resized to a maximum of 2,000 pixels on the longest side and converted to JPEG without source location metadata. Keep originals in your photo library or another archive.

Does changing a glaze change past pieces?

Each applied layer keeps a snapshot of the glaze name and recipe at the time it was added. Editing or removing a glaze in the library does not rewrite those saved recipe snapshots.

Does the app control a kiln or certify glaze safety?

No. It is a record-keeping notebook, not a kiln controller, firing monitor, safety calculator, tested recipe database, or food-contact certification tool. Follow equipment and material manufacturers' instructions and qualified professional guidance.

How do I use the camera?

Choose the camera from a piece's photo controls. If access was denied, open iOS or iPadOS Settings, find Sevenstead Pottery, and review camera permission. School, parental, or device-management restrictions may need to be reviewed separately.

What devices are supported?

The first release supports iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. It is not being offered on Mac or Apple Vision Pro.

Who handles purchases and refunds?

Apple handles App Store purchases and determines refund eligibility. Visit Apple's Report a Problem website for purchase support.
